About the Foundation

The Wright Memorial Public Library Foundation was created in 1997. The Foundation was formed to operate exclusively for the purpose of advancing the goals, objectives, and priorities of the Wright Memorial Public Library, as established by the Board of Trustees of the Library. The Foundation raises funds for Wright Library, holding, investing, and expending those funds for the exclusive benefit of the Library.

The Foundation Board consists of between five and nine Trustees who serve three year terms. Interested applicants are welcome to contact the Board President for an application.

Foundation Board meetings are held at 6:30PM on the second Monday of each month in the Library's Meeting Room and are open to the public.

Why support Wright Library?

Wright Library is funded largely by tax dollars from the State of Ohio and local property taxes. While the State continues to reduce its funding for the Library, expenses continue to grow. As a result, tax revenue is insufficient to support the Library beyond basic services. Your gift is important and appreciated.

2013 Annual Fund Drive

The Wright Memorial Public Library Foundation 2013 Annual Fund Drive is in progress. Contributions to the Foundation ensure that funds are available for library services beyond the basics.

In the past the Foundation has provided funds for the Summer Family Blanket Concert series, guest speakers, the Summer Reading Club, supplementary funds for the book budget, and a special children's computer with learning games and educational resources. This year the Foundation plans to help with the library's interior renovation project. A long term goal of the Foundation is to build an endowment to ensure excellent library services for future generations of Wright Library patrons. The Foundation is a component fund of The Dayton Foundation. Funds from the Library's budget were not used for the fundraising drive.

Contributions to the annual fund will help keep Wright Library a vibrant community destination that provides lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Library patrons who live outside of Oakwood may pick up a donation form at the Library, or may print a form, or donate online.
